Autumn Honey use ideas & new time for port Macquarie Real food markets
It’s been a fabulous summer but already the days are shortening and the Real Food Markets in Port Macquarie will be changing hours to roll with the seasonal flow.
You’ll be able to pick up your honey and refill your honey tubs from us, your local beekeepers, Tuesdays between 10am and 4pm.
If you’ve been enjoying our honey for a while, you’ll know it’s one of those amazing natural products that’s a delight to enjoy whether it’s hot or cold out. And the different harvests we currently have available – ironbark, yellow box, stringybark and bloodwood all have a unique flavour profile.
In summer we like our honey drizzled over yoghurt and berries or swizzled into a a refreshing summer smoothie, and as it begins to cool down a bit, give it a swirl into a warm autumnal latte or tea, or bring some sweetness to a spicy stir fry – there are some more Autumn honey recipe and use ideas below! Oh, and if you find your lips getting dry and cracked in the cooler weather, maybe buy some of our local beeswax to make your own natural lip balm!
If you can’t make Tuesdays, you can also find us monthly at The Foreshore Market as well as buy our honey from some fabulous stockists you can find on our honey sellers’ page or buy our honey direct from us online.
Along with other fabulous local producers at the Real Food Market, we’re located just outside the Glasshouse and Port Central (and sometimes in the back lane – Hay St – if there’s a bump in for a show at the Glasshouse). You can also pick up some of our range inside Port Central at the little artisan store Kaleidoscope!
Why Honey is Perfect for Autumn enjoyment

Here are just a couple of ways to enjoy honey from The Beekeeper and our Honey & Earth range.
Stir into warm drinks – Add honey to tea, coffee, or warm milk with cinnamon for a soothing, immune-boosting beverage.
Use in baking – Honey adds depth to autumn baked goods like pumpkin bread and pancakes, spiced muffins, or apple crisps.
Glaze roasted vegetables – Yum! Drizzle some honey over roasted carrots, sweet potatoes, or Brussels sprouts to enhance their natural sweetness.
Pair with cheeses – Honey and cheese are a match made in heaven. Drizzle over warm brie or a sharp cheddar for an irresistible appetiser.
Stir Fry deliciousness – honey, chilli and soy sauce give any stir fry that perfect mix of sweet, heat and savoury!
Make honey butter – you can do this by blending honey with better, add a pinch of cinnamon and enjoy on toast or pancakes. Better still, give our super velvety creamed honey a try!
Mix into soups and stews – A touch of honey balances the acidity in tomato-based soups and adds extra depth to pumpkin soup and Autumn stews.
How do you like to use our honey and beeswax in different seasons? Let us know when you see us at the next market. Maybe we’ll put together a little recipe book with everyone’s favourite honey recipes!
